The Local Organizing Committee together with a Scientific Board comprised of leading experts in the HUPO community will put together a scientific program out of the ordinary. The theme ‘Clinical Proteomics for the Benefit of Patients’ brings together biopharma and biotech drug developments, for the first time involving Pharma Industry in one of the foremost arenas for the advancement of life sciences – a natural next step considering that knowledge derived from proteomics research is playing an increasingly important role in drug development. Clinical proteomics will thus be the theme of the 19th HUPO World Congress with dedicated sections within systems biology, as well as disease areas such as; oncology, cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and infection/immunology. This is an area of mandatory importance and tremendous potential in the quest for new directions in treatments, early indication of disease, as well as biomarkers and diagnostics that can aid in selecting optimal drug choice and use for patient benefit.
Not only a city of spectacular beauty and the home of the Nobel Prize, Stockholm and its environments boast one of Europe’s largest life science clusters.
